eLearning Voice Over

Great eLearning voiceover requires balancing clear, intelligible reads with an engaging delivery that won’t bore the intended audience. During a particularly busy semester while serving as an adjust professor for multiple graduate level digital signal processing courses, I created custom video lessons for my classes before going on several weeks of personal leave.

 

These videos introduced specific signal processing techniques in a detailed, step-by-step fashion. Although this was well before I started pursuing a career in voice acting, I treated the writing, video, and voiceover all with great care. Through my experience meticulously crafting these lessons, I developed a great appreciation for the care that goes into making this type of content. As a result of my efforts, my students performed better on those particular modules than any other module they studied that semester. I was also given teacher evaluation marks that ranked far above the department average, all of this during my first and only year of teaching at that university.

About a year later, I applied for a full-time position as an audio software engineer at Apple. Although I possessed many skills and a good education, I also had certain knowledge gaps that, if filled, would make me more competitive. Before my second round of interviews, I consumed several eLearning courses on iOS audio application development. From these courses, I created an app that I showed to my interviewers in order to demonstrate that I was dedicated to quickly learning new skills.

I got the job offer the following week.
