Great eLearning voiceover requires balancing clear, intelligible reads with an engaging delivery that won’t bore the intended audience. During a particularly busy final semester in graduate school, Kiran was serving as an adjust professor for multiple graduate level digital signal processing courses. Before leaving for several weeks of leave, he created custom eLearning-style video lessons for his classes.
These videos introduced specific signal processing techniques in a detailed, step-by-step fashion. Although this greatly preceded Kiran's voice acting career, he still treated the writing, video, and voiceover all with great care. Through this experience meticulously crafting each lesson, he developed a great appreciation for the care that goes into making this type of educational content. As a result of Kiran's efforts, his students performed better on those particular modules than any other module they studied that semester. He was also given teacher evaluation marks that ranked far above the department average, all of this during his first and only year of teaching at the university.
A year later, Kiran applied for a full-time position as an audio software engineer at Apple. Although he possessed many skills and qualifications, he was also aware of certain knowledge gaps that, if filled, would make him far more competitive. Before his second round of interviews, he consumed several eLearning courses on iOS audio application development. From these courses, he created an app that he showed to his interview team in order to demonstrate his dedication and ability to learn new skills.
He got the job offer the following week.
